Senior Soil Scientist / Project Manager

Jessica Slopek has over eight years of experience in environmental consulting and research. She is employed as a Senior Soil Scientist and Project Manager at CanNorth and is a Professional Agrologist with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. Her expertise and training are in soil science, specifically soil characterization, best management practices, and contaminant investigations. Jessica develops, manages, and conducts field programs for baseline soil surveys and long-term soil and vegetation monitoring programs. She also provides technical expertise for all soils-focused projects. Her past notable projects include Phase II ESAs in remote First Nation communities, baseline soil surveys for proposed uranium mines, long-term mining waste rock monitoring programs, and terrain and soil effects assessments. She is experienced in study design and data interpretation, as well as coordinating complex field programs, budget management, and client communication. Jessica enjoys spreading her appreciation of soil through mentorship of staff and prioritizes cultivating and maintaining relationships with the northern communities where she works.
