Canada North Environmental Services (CanNorth) is an aboriginal-owned environmental services firm specializing in the biological/environmental sciences. CanNorth has a strong foundation and proven experience in environmental consulting, monitoring, modeling, and environmental impact assessments. We currently have the following openings:
Intermediate/Senior Biologist (several permanent positions)
M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred, however, a B.Sc. is acceptable if significant experience can be demonstrated. Excellent report writing skills are essential. The ideal candidates will have excellent knowledge of aquatic and/or terrestrial ecology. If the applicant’s experience is terrestrial, superior wildlife skills will be an asset. Experience with provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
Archaeologist
M.A. or Ph.D. preferred, however, a B.A. is acceptable if significant experience can be demonstrated. The applicant must be able to obtain HRIA permits in Saskatchewan. Excellent report writing skills are essential. Saskatchewan experience is highly desirable.
Hydrologist
M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred, however a B.Sc. is acceptable if significant experience can be demonstrated. Excellent report writing and data analytical skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in designing and implementing hydrology programs. Experience in the mining industry is highly desirable.
Junior Biologist/Environmental Technician
B.Sc. preferred, however a graduate from a natural resources program is acceptable if significant experience can be demonstrated. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental monitoring, aquatic habitat assessment, various fish collecting techniques, limnology, sediment and invertebrate sampling, data entry, and report preparation. Knowledge of terrestrial ecology and Microsoft Access will also be an asset.
GIS Specialist
The ideal candidate will have the appropriate educational background (university or college) and several years of experience in environmental consulting. Excellent knowledge of ArcGIS software is highly desirable for this position.
